Jeffrey R. Ray K.C. of Begbie Court Law is a New Westminster-based lawyer representing clients charged with a variety of criminal offences. He provides advice to individuals facing criminal investigations or criminal charges. In addition, he has represented small and medium sized businesses engaged in quasi-criminal regulatory investigations.
He has appeared in all levels of court including the Supreme Court of Canada. He has appeared in the Court of Appeal for British Columbia on both Conviction and Sentence Appeals, and often provides advice to other counsel on appeal matters.
He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan College of Law in 1987. Thereafter he articled with the Department of Justice, Canada with a focus on trial advocacy. He was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 1988 and commenced a criminal defence practice in New Westminster. His practice has remained in New Westminster for over two and a half decades.
Mr. Ray is a regular speaker at the Professional Legal Training Course, the British Columbia’s Law Society’s bar admission course. He frequently provides mentorship to younger lawyers in the practice of criminal law.

Mr. Janzen was born and raised in New Westminster. After graduating from New Westminster Secondary School he attended Simon Fraser University where he received a Bachelor of Arts (Political Science and Criminology) in 1986. He attended law school at Queen’s University and received an LL.B in 1990.
Mr. Janzen articled at a major Canadian law firm and was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 1991. After his call to the Bar, he worked for many years in Downtown Vancouver practicing primarily commercial and civil litigation. In 2005, he established a criminal defence practice in New Westminster. He joined Begbie Court Law in 2017.
Since 2005 Mr. Janzen’s practice has focused on representing individuals charged with criminal offences. He appears regularly in the Provincial Court of British Columbia and the Supreme Court of British Columbia defending clients charged with offences ranging from theft and spousal assault to drug trafficking, sexual assault, and murder. He also represents individuals in civil and regulatory matters arising out of criminal charges.
In his spare time Mr. Janzen enjoys volunteering in his community. He is a Trustee of Shiloh-Fifth Avenue United Church and a Level 3B Starter for the British Columbia Speed Skating Association. In the past he coached minor lacrosse and served for many years as Chair of the Queensborough Special Programs Committee and as a member of the City of New Westminster’s Community and Social Issues Committee.

Vincent Guo represents clients charged with a variety of criminal and quasi-criminal offences. Vincent attended law school at the University of British Columbia and was called to the British Columbia Bar in 2013. From 2013 to 2022 he had a general litigation practice in civil, family, and criminal litigation. He joined Begbie Court Law in 2023 and since then has focused his practice exclusively in criminal defence.
Vincent is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and has assisted many Mandarin-speaking clients over his career.

Lisa Jung practices exclusively in the area of criminal law. She appears regularly in the Provincial Court of British Columbia and the Supreme Court of British Columbia to defend clients charged with offences under the Criminal Code, Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, and Motor Vehicle Act.
Ms. Jung received her undergraduate degree at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver majoring in Political Science with a focus on critical theory. She attended law school at the University of Alberta, and was called to the Bar of British Columbia in 2019.
As a lover of animals, Ms. Jung served as the president of the Student Animal Legal Defence Fund during her time in law school. She presently shares her home with two rescue dogs.
Ms. Jung speaks conversational Korean.
